Department Head’s Welcome

On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome to the University of Arkansas and the Department of Electrical Engineering.

The Department offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), as well as master and doctoral graduate degrees, and graduate certificates. One career path permits to obtain BSEE and a master degree in electrical engineering (MSEE) by applying 9 credit hours of technical electives from the BSEE program to the MSEE degree requirements.

Our BSEE program has several outstanding features; in particular, (i) Combines theoretical concepts with hands-on experiences through several laboratories associated with our required EE courses; (ii) Opportunities for studying abroad without adversely impacting your graduation date; (iii) Multiple possibilities for internships at potential employer sites, and (iv) Undergraduate research experiences at any of the department research laboratories. The later enables undergraduate students to evaluate if graduate studies are a career path. The Department has been offering the BSEE degree since its establishment in 1897, and continuously accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) since 1936.

For students seeking advanced degrees, the department also offers two master’s degrees (MSEE and online MSE) and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. The MSEE degree could be pursed on campus or online. Students continuing into graduate studies on campus can apply for teaching or research assistantships.

The University of Arkansas, College of Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering offer numerous scholarships for qualified candidates. Outstanding students with excellent academic records could be considered for many prestigious fellowships, which offer competitive Stipend and Tuition.

Professional educators and staff are dedicated to providing you with an enjoyable experience while pursuing a quality education. It is our goal that you can compete as a practicing engineer with EE graduates from any other university as well as become leaders in the society. Our graduates find employment in all fields of electrical engineering, and are hired by small to large corporations.

Best wishes for success in achieving your academic and career goals. The faculty and staff are available to provide assistance during your stay in the department, and if we can be of help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact any of us.
